Civil Engineering Internship Review from Xiaotian

Civil engineering intern Xiaotian from Swinburne University of Technology.

“My overall internship experience is great. I had the opportunity to engage and participate in the engineering industry, which enabled me to gain deeper knowledge of my chosen career.

The working environment is very relaxed and flexible, it has allowed me to adapt easily. My colleagues are all very friendly and helpful. Through collaborations with my colleagues, I’ve learned the value of cooperation.

My tasks were mainly supervised and under the guidance of our senior engineer, I assisted in designing low-level structures, drawing reviews, site inspections, visits and writing reports. These practical experiences provided me with a deeper insight into civil engineering processes and technical applications. It will positively impact my future as a civil engineer.

The internship enabled me to gain valuable practical experiences and knowledge in civil engineering. I gained more knowledge in engineering theory and design. I was also exposed to mining engineering, which enabled me to broaden my knowledge of other engineering disciplines.

For those who want to take an internship, I suggest that you have good time management, preparing everything ahead of time. When an offer comes, make sure you are ready, do not delay and waste time. If you have any questions, make sure to communicate it directly to your company, and reach out to your supervisor and team nicely. This internship has been a great experience to start your career. I hope that you also find an internship that will propel you for your future career path.
