Data Science Internship Review from Yunxiang

Data science intern Yunxiang from the University of Sydney.

My current internship experience has been quite good. Although some tasks are challenging, the overall environment is comfortable, and I’ve learned a lot. I get along well with my colleagues, and the work atmosphere is relaxed and supportive. My supervisor, who comes from a local Australian company, focuses on efficiency and has a clear and precise understanding of tasks. In terms of task planning and team collaboration, he always provides clear guidance and advice. Team members support each other, with good communication and collaboration, and everyone actively shares experiences and learns from each other. Overall, this work environment has helped me quickly adapt and continuously improve my abilities.

My tasks include providing data analysis and recommendations for clients, conducting research, handling phone tasks such as communicating with the ATO and government agencies, performing office work like data entry and form filling, and offering services to Chinese-speaking clients. Through this internship at a local Australian company, I have improved my work efficiency and gained a deeper understanding of task planning and team collaboration. This experience has given me a clearer perspective on how to organize work and allocate tasks.

I suggest students familiarize themselves with their resumes and thoroughly prepare for the interview. Additionally, practicing mock interviews can improve interview skills. During the internship, it’s crucial to provide timely feedback on your progress and understanding of tasks. If something is unclear during the process, it’s important to ask your supervisor for help as soon as possible to avoid delaying the task’s progress.
