Most frequently asked questions during internship interview
Congratulations you succeeded to land an interview with a company for your next internship! Now you have to be prepared for this test by being able to answer some questions. Indeed, an interview cannot be successful without a little bit of training. If the communication skills and the body language is very important, you also have to be able to answer the good way.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions during internship interview:
1. Tell me about yourself?
For this question, the host company is not asking about your hobbies but you will need to give a brief summary about you and more particularly about your educational and professional background. In about 1 minute, try to link your background to the internship you are applying for.
2. What is your greatest strength?
You have to mention your strengths that directly related to the position you are interviewing for. This question should be prepared before the interview and the most important is to give examples to illustrate your strengths.
3. What is your greatest weakness?
To answer this question you have to turn your weaknesses into a positive point such as “I’m a perfectionist”. Be sure to explain how you try to improve it.
4. Why do you want to perform your internship in our company?
You will have to demonstrate your knowledge about the company and the position by comparing it to your goals and explaining why it interests you.
5. Tell us about a difficult situation and how you overcame it?
For this question you will have to give real examples related to a work environment and explain how you solve the problem. The most important is to demonstrate what you learn from it and how you improve your problem solving skills.
6. Imagine yourself in 5 or 10 years?
Demonstrate to the host organisation not only your career goals but also what are your plans to reach them. It will show your motivation to take the initiative to accomplish goals.
7. Why would you be a good intern?
Give real examples related to your skills and accomplishments. Then, explain why your abilities make you the best candidate for the position. You will have to show your interest in the position and the host organisation.
8. What do you know about our company?
It is essential to prepare this question before the interview by research as much information as possible about the company on their website and social media pages. Also, try to find on Linkedin the persons that will interview you and review their profile, it will helps you to feel more comfortable.
9. What are you most proud of?
Give example of what you accomplished that is related to the position you are applying for and why it will be beneficial for the host organisation.
10. Do you have any questions?
It is really important to prepare some questions before the interview, it will show your interest about the position and the company and that you done some research.
