Capital of Australia
Canberra, the capital city of Australia with a population of a little more than 380,000, represents the eight largest city in the country.
Located in the Australian Capital Territory between Melbourne (capital of Victoria) and Sydney (capital of New South Wales), Canberra was built and designed only in 1913 to avoid rivalries at that time between Melbourne and Sydney as both wanted to be the capital of the country. Canberra’s area was chosen as the nation’s in 1908 because it was located between the two largest cities in Australia.
