The marine industry has become a high tech industry that uses specialized and specific skills in all areas: technical, legal, economic, regulatory,etc.
Marine engineering refers to the machinery and systems of ships. As a marine engineer you will cope with a wide range of systems and you will be in charge of the design and selection of equipment and systems. The marine engineer manages coastal development, harbours, estuaries or offshore oil exploration platforms. Shipbuilding is a labour intensive industry and teamwork is vital, marine engineers must be able to manage a team, be skilled in communication and fine academics. They must also have an analytical mind, be creative, meticulous, imaginative, master the necessary computer skills, be able to assume many responsibilities, not including basic skills in logic, science and technology.
